Q. Does USTA provide child safety seats?
A. No. Children ages 0-8 must be in the appropriate child safety seat. The consumer is responsible to provide such seat or no ride will be provided.
Q. Does USTA have wheelchair accessible equipment?
A. Yes, please be sure to let the person making your reservation know of any special needs you have.
Q. Does USTA provide aides for handicapped clients?
A. No. If you need door-to-door service, please inform the driver. If you have a greater need, you may request permission for a family member or friend to ride along with you at the time you make your reservation. USTA drivers are not permitted to enter a rider's homes.
Q. Is there a deadline for making my trip reservation?
A. Yes. The deadline is 10:00 am for the business day prior to your trip. We ask taht you call us with as much notice as possible. Appointments must be between the hours of 8:00 am & 2:30 pm.
Q. Is USTA just for medical trips?
A. Not at all. While many riders count on USTA for transportation to medical appointments, USTA transports people to work, grocery store, mall, bank, restaurants, swimming, movies, visitation at another person's home or nursing home.
Q. May I register by phone?
A. You may call and request an application to be mailed to you.
Q. How many grocery bags may I bring on to the bus?
A. We ask that you limit the number of grocery bags to ten. The driver will assist you by carrying one load to your door. The driver is not permitted to deliver your groceries into your home.
Other Helpful Information
- USTA is a “shared-ride” program, not a taxi service.
- USTA is not an “emergency” service, please call 911 in a health emergency.
- In order to offer the “discounted” rate, prior day’s notice is required by state regulation.
- Riders must pay the driver when boarding the bus; exact change is required. No rides can be provided unless the fare is paid to the driver.
- Drivers are on time 15 minutes prior and 15 minutes after your scheduled pick up time.
- Drivers may only transport riders to locations listed on their manifests.
- Drivers may only transport riders for which reservations were made.
- For your safety, seat belt usage is required.
- If you do not need a ride you scheduled, please call USTA as soon as possible, preferably no later than two hours prior to your pick-up time.
- When you are finished with your appointment, call USTA, press “1” to inform the dispatcher.
- If a driver does not return for you within one-half hour, please call again.
