Union/Snyder
Transportation Alliance (USTA) is a public, non-profit transportation
alliance which was formed in 1979 to provide consolidated
transportation for local human service agencies. USTA is a branch of the
Union-Snyder Community Action Agency (CAA), one of two community action
programs in Pennsylvania that began as public bodies under the direction of
the county commissioners. USTA and Union-Snyder CAA are governed by the
Joinder Board of the Union and Snyder County Commissioners. In 1981, by
opening its system to the general public, USTA made itself eligible to use
Pennsylvania State Lottery funds to cover a percentage of the cost of
trips for those over the age of 65.
USTA's service area
covers approximately 650 square miles and our fleet consists of 30 vehicles
ranging from station wagons to accessible
small transit buses.
USTA provides reservation only door-to-door service for
residents of Union and Snyder Counties. USTA provides a daily
shuttle service to Geisinger Medical Center, located in Danville.
Some restrictions may apply to out-of-county destinations. Please
call for more information regarding these restrictions.
As the
designated county coordinator for the Shared-Ride Lottery Program for Senior
Citizens, USTA is able to offer transportation to those over the age of 65
at a discounted rate. USTA is a recipient of funds from the Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation to provide transportation for residents of
Union and Snyder Counties that are disabled and under the age of 65, also
at a discounted rate. USTA
administers the Medical Assistance Transportation Program for the
Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, providing free transportation to
eligible residents of Union and Snyder Counties to Medical Assistance
compensable services. USTA contracts with many other
local agencies, providing transportation to social service agencies and
sheltered workshops. USTA is also open to the general public at full fare
rates.
